This was an interesting read, especially the 'back half' of the story. Took me a little time to get fully on track as to where this might go. Lots of character development early on with the hero, which was fine but lengthy. Once Webb started his 'time traveling', the story became rich with imagery and I got quite engrossed. The descriptions of the hardscrabble life of a country and western musician traveling and playing with Hank Williams were certainly something you don't read everyday. Webb's mission to play the Ryman was an interesting take on an historic place and time. Having visited there a few years ago, I think Ms Watt captures the atmosphere of the place very well. Throughout, her prose is humorous, colloquial and enjoyable. This was an excellent first effort and I look forward to reading her second book.Tags : Carry Me Back [Laura Watt] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. This is an unusual and fascinating story that has a charm all its own. The "hero" of the tale slips back and in time and forward in a manner that drives the story forward. This is one of those tales where you cannot guess what's coming and is all the more entertaining because of the readers hunger to know what happens. I really enjoyed it.
